Materials
An area of design that is of high interest for Design Forces is materials, as they often are the very foundation of design solutions.
Yet, when trying to grasp the world of materials one often encounter detalied natural science terms from physics and chemistry. While the technical possibilities can be enabling for any creator who collaborates with a competent engineer or material expert, the scientific complexity is often overwhelming.
Nowadays material awareness are not only relevant for scientists, researchers, designers and creators but also for end consumers with their increasing interest in sustainable choices for the physical environment.
For this Design Forces has conceived a collection of materials that seeks to bring forth the creator and user-oriented aspects of materials. The materials will be categorized into five comprehensible titles: Animal, Metal, Plant, Plastic, and Stone.
The ambition is to increase the awareness and knowledge of the materials by focusing on the characteristics and typical applications. Hopefully this will result in a higher appreciation of the subtleties of the materials as well as an ability to make more informed choices in the buying, using, recycling or disposing of materials and products.

While we always appreciate a good piece of human writing, the decisions of which aspects to highlight for each material will be made in collaboration with generative artificial intelligence. For the knowledge research ChatGPT is used with efforts to ensure accuracy and comprehensiveness, but this should not be considered a definitive source for academic or professional research. Readers are encouraged to cross-reference with primary sources and consult with subject matter experts to validate the findings and conclusions before use in their projects.
The images are also generated with artificial intelligence and rerstrained by the possibilities of their generative engines. Especially regarding the design expressions and colors that are unlikely to represent choices made in design solutions by Design Forces. In addition the main objective of the visuals is to inform about materials and therefore their selected based on generic design expressions that will not infringe the rights of original creators.
